Turn on BitLocker.... not in Right click menu
On my Dell D820 with 32 bit Windows 7 Ultimate I can select and have in the right click menu on the C: drive the Turn on BitLocker... menu option Also in the control panel, Bitlocker Drive Encryption this option is availible, but for my USB stick this option is not in the context menu So no "Turn on BitLocker.." appears. Also when my usb stick is plugged in it does not appear in the Contol Panel, BitLocker Drive Encryption screen under the BitLocker To Go option. The same USB stick on different D820 (64 bit ultimate) these option is availible! Even after a clean re-install no BitLocker To Go...Any suggestions.I encrypted the usb stick on an other pc, on my pc I could access after type in the password, now the stick appears in the Control Panel under BitLocker to Go screen. And I could manage the stick, so I decrypt the stick on my pc, but afterwards, again I didn't show up in the control panel nor the Turn on BitLocker... right click menu.

Hi, I suggest updating BIOS and device drivers on 32 bit Windows 7 Ultimate computer first. In addition, please make sure the BitLocker Drive Encryption Service is started. To verify it, type SERVICES.MSC in the Start Search box and press Enter. Find out the BitLocker Drive Encryption Service and make sure it is started. If the USB stick is not in NTFS format, I suggest reformatting it to NTFS.Vivian Xing - MSFT

Since this USB stick works on other Windows 7 Ultimate correctly, it should be the problem on this computer. For further troubleshooting, try reinstalling the USB controller driver as below:Use the Mouse=============First, disconnect all USB devices and then perform the following steps: 1. Click "Start", type in Device Manager the Search bar and press "Enter". 2. In Device Manager, double click to expand "Universal Serial Bus controllers", right click on the "Host Controller", click "Uninstall" and click "OK".3. Repeat the step 2 to uninstall all items under "Universal Serial Bus controllers". Then, restart your computer and Windows 7 will reinstall all USB controllers automatically. Use the Keyboard==============1. Press "Ctrl + Esc" to open the Start Menu. 2. Type Device Manager in the Search bar and press "Enter". 3. In Device Manger, press Tab and use "Up" and "Down" to move the highlight to "Universal Serial Bus Controllers".4. Press "Right" and expand it.5. Press "Down" to move to the first item and press "Delete" to remove it.6. Repeat the step 5 and uninstall all items under "Universal Serial Bus Controllers".This issue also can be caused by third party program. So, you can test it in Clean Boot mode.Vivian Xing - MSFT

Vivian,I did already an reinstall of windows. but now I did as you wrote, I delete the usb controllers and reboot, but the problem still exist, another thing I noticed, after installing windows I shrinked the C: partition and created an second partition that I formatted in NTFS. The C: drive has the Turn bitlocker on... menu item when right clicking. The new partition (D:) doesn't have the Turn BitLocker on.. menu option.

It's a strange behavior. According to Bitlocker system requirment, A BIOS setting to start up first from the hard drive, not the USB or CD drives. Please configure BIOS to start from hard drive first. If the issue persists, test it in Device Clean Boot: Device Clean Boot ================= 1. Click Start, type "devmgmt.msc" (without quotation marks) in the Search bar and press Enter. 2. Expand "Sound, video and game controllers". 3. Right click on your sound card and then click "Properties. 4. In the dropdown menu of Device Usage, please choose "Do not use this device (disable)" and click OK. 5. Please use the same method to disable other dubious hardware such as: internal modem, network card and CD-R drive. Please note some devices such as video adapter are not available to be disabled. If it does not work, how about installing another 64-bit Windows 7 on this computer. It will help determine if it's the computer problem. Vivian Xing - MSFT
