Which program are you trying to run? There might be more solutions than turning off DEP (which if I remember correctly isn't recommended).

Hi, Please try to take this: 1. Click Start 2. Click All Programs 3. Click Accessories 4. Right Click on Command Prompt 5. Left click on Run as Administrator 6. Click the Allow button if it asks you for permission 7. Type or copy and paste this into the command prompt window: bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx AlwaysOff 8. Hit enter and you should see the confirmation: Operation Completed Successfully 9. Reboot and DEP should be off. Hope it helps.

Thanks. It was is necessary for anti-cheat. Now it works. But it would be remarkable, if it was possible to add any appendix in an exception.

Mind you, I'd be reluctant to turn of DEP altogether. It protects the computer against an inherent shortcoming in the architecture used by all PC microprocessors (the von Neumann architecture), which will allow data to be executed as if it were a program. This leads to numerous security vulnerabilities (and it's not just Windows we're talking about here; it applies to Mac OSX, Linux and anything else that uses the x86 processor architecture).Good OSs provide various protection measures against this, including DEP in Windows.I've got a couple of ancient programs which won't run with DEP enabled, but I get round that by putting them in the exclusion list.Thack

Unfortunately, except advantage DEP brings many inconveniences. I already wrote, that I can not add the application in the list of exceptions. If you remember, in Windows XP was not primary DEP. If there was a possibility to add the necessary application in an exception, it was not necessary to resort to such global actions.

I've added one without a problem.I advise you explore why you can't add that program for a little longer, before giving up and turning off DEP altogether.Thack

But have you done any research into WHY you can't turn off DEP for that program? Have you contacted the vendor, for instance? Or asked around any forums specific to that program? Or researched the criteria Windows uses for allowing/disallowing DEP to be turned off? That, I suggest, would be the way to proceed.I still say that globally switching off DEP, just to run one program, should be a last resort. AFTER you've exhausted all other options.

Ok, I just did this as you suggested on my Windows 7 machine, and after rebooting my computer will no longer start. It sent me to "Startup Repair" and I don't think it's coming out. Am I screwed?
