Tunel adapter local area connection problem
I have seen this question on a couple of other threads, but mine seems a little different and I can't fathom what is going on. I have been trying to set up a home network and using 'ipconfig' on the 'cmd' line I get over 400 entries of the following: Tunnel Adaptor Local Area Connection* 430 Media State . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .: Media Disconnected Connection - Specific DNS Suffix . . . : All 400 lines are as above with the number after the first line different. It goes up to 437 at last check. I was having a problem with not getting on the internet after a startup or startover until after about 5-10 minutes and I disabled Ipv6. I can now access the internet immediately after startup, but an ipconfig still goes through the entire gamut. After disabling Ipv6, I tried to set up a Homegroup, but was unable because Ipv6 is required. I had a network until ATT Uverse was installed a couple of months ago and that suppressed it. I have called ATT tech support and they were remotely logged on to my computer for a total of 7 hours trying to fix the problem and finally threw up their hands and said it was a Microsoft problem. Can anyone help me get rid of the Tunneling and help me re-establish my home network?

The last sentence of the first paragraph should be "I can NOW access the internet immediately ,,,"

Hi, First, IPv6 is one of core technologies used by HomeGroup; if you want to use HomeGroup, IPv6 should be enabled. For more information, please refer to: Support for IPv6 in Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7 Meanwhile, these Tunnel adapters are related to IPv6, so I think it is better not to disable the Tunnel adapters. If you still would like to disable these adapters, I suggest you take the following steps to have a test: Note: Please perform a full system backup before doing this: 1. Click Start, type cmd in the Start Search box, right click the cmd.exe, and then click Run as Administrator. 2. In the Command Prompt, type netsh int isa set state disabled, and press Enter. In addition, I also would like to know how many Tunnel adapters are listed in the output of “ipconfig” and Device Manager. Please also capture screenshots on them for our further research: How to capture a screenshot ====================== 1) Press the Print Screen key (PrtScn) on your keyboard. 2) Click the "Start" menu, type "mspaint" in the Search Bar and Press Enter. 3) In the Paint program, click the "Edit" menu, click "Paste", click the "File" menu, and click "Save". 4) The "Save As" dialogue box will appear. Type a file name in the "File name:" box, for example: "screenshot". 5) Make sure "JPEG (*.JPG;*.JPEG;*.JPE;*.JFIF)" is selected in the "Save as type" box, click “Desktop” on the left pane and then click "Save". 6) Then Upload to SkyDrive. Hope it helps. Alex Zhao Please remember to click “Mark as Answer” on the post that helps you, and to click “Unmark as Answer” if a marked post does not actually answer your question. What I am using is a wired ethernet network and have used it for quite some time. I just uninstalled all of the tunnel adapters and disabled IPv6 and now everything works fine. Uninstalling 447 entries took a few hours but it was worth it. I have one computer running Windows 7 and the other is using Windows Vista, so I cannot use Homegroup. It requires IPv6 and also will not work with anything other than Windows 7, based on everything I have read. Thank you for your offer to help but I believe everything is working correctly now. I am a little concerned about IPv6 because it looks as if it might be neded sometime in the future but it is what caused the problem or at least part of the problem. This didn't seem to appear until I made the mistake of signing up for ATT U-Verse. I have regretted that decision and believe it may be part of the problem. What are your thoughts on this? Will I need v6 in the future?dond13
