Trying to map a network drive !
Hi guys, I've looked through a few threads on this subject and can't seem to find a resolution for my problem... I am trying to map a network drive to my computer, I can browse to the network storage device via the web browser and I can ping it fine too. So everything seems fine with the network set up, I have disabled all my firewalls and checked and re checked that i'm using the right passwords and stuff. The names and IPs for my devices are as follows.. My computer is Viper @ 192.168.1.10 Terrastation is Adder @ 192.168.1.2 Router / gateway @ 192.168.1.1 Network name = Saxnet2 I get the feeling that I'm missing something obvious with regards to the windows 7 network sharing center, so I have included a couple of screen shots. When I follow the map network drive wizard, it gives me a login / username & password box, but no matter how I try it won't accept any account and password I try. Try using a different account e.g. adder\admin Alternatively use the Credential Manager to add a new Windows Credential for the Terrastation. http://dumpytips.blogspot.com/2009/11/windows-7-mapped-drives-crednetials.html Kerry Brown MS-MVP - Windows Desktop Experience

Try changing the IP addresses, My computer is Viper @ 192.168.1.10 should work better @ 192.168.1.100 Terrastation is Adder @ 192.168.1.2 should work better @ 192.168.1.101 It may be possible to reverse those, but would try that order first. John Wiley

Have you try mapping using the name instead other than IP? For my case i'm able to access my network drive using name but not with IP. Lastly you could also access the drive through network and sharing center>view network and computers and devices

when it asks you for credentials click use other account. Then type the user name as : Terrastation\<your admin username for this computer> And enter your password. Its asking for credentials for you to add the share from terrastation. But from the images you are trying to give access using a local account on viper which wont have administration rights on terrastation. Using above should "fingers crossed" workwww.mypchealth.co.uk

Using above should "fingers crossed" work This would only work of the Terrastation was called "terrastation" and the account <your admin username for this computer> had an account with the same name on the terrastation. You are almost correct. Saur0 has said the name for the terrastation is Adder so the format would be: Adder\<an account name that exists on the terrastation> Kerry Brown MS-MVP - Windows Desktop Experience

Sorry for the delay in updates, I've been away with work for the last couple of weeks. Anyway just thought I would update the thread with my solution, The problem was that my old SAN used NTLM which isn't supported by default in Windows 7, to enable NTLM.... Press on Start / Control Panel / System and Security / Administrative Tools / Local Security Policy / Local Policies / Security Options Within Security Options search and change: "Network security: LAN Manager authentication level" to: "Send LM & NTLM responses" Thanks for the help guys /Saur0
