Trying to lock down Users from changing properties of the Documents folder in Windows 7 Professional
I am creating a Windows 7 Pro build and was wondering how to do the following: I have the Documents folder redirect to the \\Servername\%username% folder, and want to block the users from modifying the Documents properties. This includes adding or modifying the library locations. I want to know if there is a way to grey this out, so "curious" users don't accidently delete their Documents redirection settings.

Hi, How did you configure the folder redirection? If you configure the folder redirection feature in group policy, it will create the folder on the location which you set and the group policy will overwrite the local settings. Also, if you let Folder Redirection create folders for you, which is the recommended procedure, correct permissions are set automatically. 1) I set folder redirection via Group Policy 2) The Documents folder is redirected to their existing h:\ drive mapping (\\servername\user$\%username%) In this case the redirection is working fine. On the older Windows XP PC's it doesn't allow them to modify the redirection settings, but with Windows 7, because of the libraries feature, it gives them the ability to modify the settings. My main goal is to block the areas where users can alter important settings. I can easily fix the problem, but I want to avoid the additional calls if possible. Right now, my Windows 7 build is still in development, but I would like to see if I can resolve this issue before I put this image in our environment.

Hi, From the image, it seems that this is the library related properties. And if the user deletes the item in the properties, it will not remove the My Document location, it just removes My document from the library. Base on the current situation, I think it cannot be configured in the folder redirection feature. You may use a logon script and apply it in group policy to customize the Libraries which you would like to use.
