Trying to do a complete system restore of windows 7 home premium 64 bit
My friend has a Dell inspiron laptop she found that she had some trojans and a couple of viruses. She used AVG to get rid of them then she did a system restore but not properly. now she is unable to open anything always get the error "These files can't be opened. Your Internet security settings prevented one or more files from being opened." Seen regedit fixes for this but the registry file they say to look for isn't there. I'm trying to restore there laptop but it only gives me a restore point after the problem started and they didn't have an operating system disc also they didn't create a disc when they first got the laptop. Also the laptop is only a few weeks old. Any solutions to this problem would be appreciated.

Did she configure Windows Backup? If so, please check if system image backup is involved. However if not, there is no solution for this. You may try to repair the system by In-place Upgrade with the original Windows 7 installation disk (not OEM recovery disk). After In-place Upgrade your personal data and installed programs will not be removed. However since there are viruses in the system, if In-place Upgrade does not remove the viruses, please install antivirus such as MSE or run Windows Live OneCare Online Scan. If In-place Upgrade does not work, you need to reinstall the whole system. You can backup personal data with Windows Easy transfer.
