PCN00B159 , Really shouldn't need any software, how are you connecting to the internet? Ethernet cable, Wireless? Just make sure that you have Ethernet make sure you have connection by going to Start> Control Panel> Network Connection> Local Network. and see if you sent and receive are increasing every few seconds. If not try seeing if you have a IP address. Start> Run> Type: cmd> Type: ipconfig you should be able to see a 4 octets. If your on a router most likely it should look like this 192.168.1.X , X is any number. Make sure there is a gateway IP aswell if not type: ipconfig /release wait a few sec to complete type: ipconfig /renew then type ipconfig again and see if you have an IP address and a gateway address? Good Luck! Please rate me up if you find my post helpful. Thank you!

I am having a similar problem. I reinstalled Windows XP Home and can't connect to the Internet. When I go to Networks Connections, nothing shows up. I'm not sure if this is related, but I had some other problems with drivers not being installed. When I go to Device Manager, the only device without a driver installed says:-?Ethernet -?PCI slot 4 (PCI bus 1, device 9, function 0)How do I get Local Networks to show up?Thank you!
