TrustedInstaller.exe and Server2008
I am running a blade with 64GB RAM. It's only purpose is to run a database and be accessed by 120 users. We are running into an issue where TrustedInstaller is trying to run for every person logging in and eating our CPU to capacity. We have Updates set to run at 3am everyday on our servers. Can anyone tell me how to stop this without turning off my updates? I have read where Microsoft knew this was an issue in 2007... why are we still fighting the same battles 4 years later? And they wonder why we are reluctant to progress and use new product when their changes make our lives suck!

Hi, Please understand that the TrustedInstaller.exe process is one of the modules of Windows Update. If you configure Windows Update automatically on a special time, the system will download and install the update automatically when new updates were detected. At that time, the TrustedInstaller.exe process will appear while installing the new updates. It will degrade the performance if you are running certain program, this is normal. To workaround this issue, it is suggested to install update one by one by turning off automatic update. Meanwhile, please update all the device drivers. This can also has something to do with incompatible driver installed.
