Troubleshooting 0x8007001f error when upgrading from 8 to 8.1 : How do I fix this?

Hello,

I have been trying to upgrade my windows 8 laptop to 8.1. However update fails due to error  0x8007001f. I have found out about this error is that an attached device is not working. How can I determine what is causing the issue?

Before finding out what the error specifically ment, these are the troubleshooting steps I've tried so far:

(1)Unplug all external devices, (like USB flash drives, mouse)

(2)A clean boot startup

(3)Turning off virus protection

(4)Installing the KB2864247 UPDATE

Thanks in advance to anyone who responds.

(I've also heard that I should try to upload the setup logs file as a possibility, but I don't understand how to do so from this link: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh824819.aspx)

Hi,

Did this issue occurred when downloading the 8.1 update by windows store?

I suggest we try following steps and try to reinstall again:

Step 1:Clean update temp files:

1.Press Windows key + R, type service.msc and press enter.

2.Stop Windows update service.

3.Run following command lines one by one to clear update temp files:

cd %windir%

ren SoftwareDistribution SDTemp

exit

4.Restart Windows update service.

Step 2:Clear windows store catch:

1.Press the Windows + R keys on your keyboard to open the Run dialog.

2.Type WSReset.exe, and click/tap on OK.

3.The Store will now open, and state the following: The cache for the store was cleared. You can now browse the store for apps

If the issue persists, I suggest we backup all important files and try Reset this PC: PC settings -> Update and Recovery -> Recovery -> Remove everything and reinstall PC

Hope this helps.
