Troubleshooting: A driver has failed to complete a power IRP within a specific time

I have found a problem similar to mine using search, but have been unable to locate the exact problem and solution.

This started just last night, there was a windows update that installed this morning, but prior to that there had not been any software installed for almost a week.

I have a Samsung series 5 laptop with a Windows 8 64-bit system. Using the Samsung update utility, all of my drivers are showing as up to date. (The laptop is only a few months old and came packaged with win8)

I've run a debugger, and I think I've pulled out the important information. It looks to me like it is related to pci.sys and an NT Plug and Play driver, but that is where I've gotten stuck.  I would appreciate any ideas to help solve the problem. Thanks.

Thanks, I'm downloading it right now and will update with how it works.

Any idea of why this problem has suddenly started now?

July 23rd, 2013 1:40am

Maybe a Windows Update triggered this issue.

That driver update fixed the problem. My computer went in to sleep mode overnight without any problems.

Thanks for your help!
