Trouble with remote desktop on windows 7
Hi, What is the exactly error message you received? Have you use any router on your home? If so, please make sure the port is forwarded. You can refer to the following link to forward the port. http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/765126 Please understand before using Remote desktop, you need to ping your destination computer successfully. I suggest turning the antivirus and firewall off on the home computer or performing a Clean Boot on it. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135 Best Regards, NikiPlease remember to click "Mark as Answer" on the post that helps you, and to click "Unmark as Answer" if a marked post does not actually answer your question. In order to login remotely to my desktop from school I have setup the remote desktop on my computer using no-ip to find its dynamic ip address. Both computers i'm using at school and at home are running Windows 7. On my home box I have turned on remote desktop and remote assistance (just to be sure). Its running with Windows Firewall and the Remote Desktop is checked. When at school I try to run remote desktop using the domain name from no-ip. The first time I can connect, it asks me about credentials, I say yes, and then am able to logon to my machine. I successfully get to the main login desktop that looks similar to how it does when i'm local. I login to my account, the desktop trys to load then I lose connection. When I try to reconnect, remote desktop complains that it can't resolve the url and I can't ping my box. The computer was still on when I came home and it had not been restarted. What is going on? I've used remote desktop on another machine running Windows 7 a few months ago using the same method and it worked.
