Trouble with links in my outlook express emails
I have an XP service pack 2 operating system with outlook express. My mail is in outlook express but my wife gets her mail thru yahoo. We both received sereral emails from a friend with links to url's included in the emails. When she clicks those emails in her yahoo account the link comes right up. However, since a week ago any links that are in the emails I open in outlook express, they no longer do anything when I click on them --no error mesage nothing. Does anyone have any idea why the links open if I open an email in yahoo but not if I open an email in outlook express? And what might be the fix for this? I never had this issue until about a week ago . Thanks.1 person needs an answerI do too

This sometimes cures the problem. Close all open windows and in a Run window (Windows Logo key+R), type regsvr32 /u urlmon.dll (note the two spaces) and press Enter. Again, in a Run window (Windows Logo key+R), type regsvr32 urlmon.dll (note the space) and press Enter. Also, in Internet Explorer click on Tools > Internet Options > Programs Tab and make sure there is a check next to the option which says that Internet Explorer should check to make sure it is the default web browser.

What is the purpose of the regsvr32 /u urlmon.dll compared to the next line of regsvr32 urlmon.dll? Thanks.Carl

What is the purpose of the regsvr32 /u urlmon.dll compared to the next line of regsvr32 urlmon.dll? Thanks.CarlThe /u means unregister this dll. The second command re-registers it.

This is common and can happen at any time. Often, the last item mentioned here is the fix.Hyperlinks do not work in Outlook Express or in Word (Revised 29 Apr-09)http://support.microsoft.com/kb/823301Hyperlinks do not work in Outlook Express after you upgrade to IE7 [and/or IE8] (Revised 29 Apr-09)http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929867If still no joy:Courtesy of MVP Frank Saunders. thanks to everyone who has offered recommendations. I am away fromn home today for the holiday and will be back at my home tomorrow and will try the recommendations. Would anyone have any idea as to why when I use yahoo mail the hyperlink works using IE as the browser with no difficulty but with outlook express it doesn't work? By the way it seems that the only thing that may have happened is that we did an adobe update a ffew days ago and the problem seems to have happened with outlook expres but not yahoo after that.

Would anyone have any idea as to why when I use yahoo mail the hyperlink works using IE as the browser with no difficulty but with outlook express it doesn't work?Using Webmail and any e-mail client is really apples and oranges. E-mail downloaded to an e-mail client goes through changes and also relies on different programs and settings to achieve a task like this.Bruce HagenMS-MVP Oct. 1, 2004 ~ Sept. 30, 2010Imperial Beach, CA
