Trouble with Windows7 in a Domain blocking MS Access multiuser mode or file permissions
I am sorry I don't have the ability to copy or move a post. Please refer to the previous thread "user permissions unusually controlled" I believe it is now located in the general section of this forum. If an admin of the forums could move the thread here that would be great. Assuming that this is the correct board to post it on. The long and short of the issue is Application PC Windows7 32bit, Application is MS Access based, Users are domain users, local folder is set everyone full control, client PC running Windows 7 cannot connect they only error out when pointed to shared Database (see previous post) XP Pro machines in same domain work fine. ( including one virtual XP Mode) Same user logins only difference is OS on client. 2nd Peter 1:3-10 continuing to grow

Hi, I would like to know which is the Access client application version? Since it didn't run properly on Windows 7 OS, I suggest reinstalling the application to check the result. If the issue persists, please right click the application and click Troubleshoot the compatibility and apply the recommend setting. I notice the application can run properly in Windows XP. You can right click the application -> properties -> compatibility Tab -> check option: Run this program in compatibility mode for -> choose Windows XP Service Pack 3 -> check option under Privileges Level as well. Best Regards, NikiPlease remember to click "Mark as Answer" on the post that helps you, and to click "Unmark as Answer" if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread.

OK I have the answer even though I do not know why. 1st the Application is not Access Microsoft but uses an Access MDB database. 2nd the Application on compatibility mode did not work. 3rd the answer is that the application uses multiple sub-folders in the primary shared directory, Icons, Images, Wav, etc.... So these sub-folders are in the primary folder for the application { c:\ application_folder\ sub-folder(s)} This primary shared application folder exists on a Windows7 32 bit machine. Apparently when the application was setup and the primary folder was shared 9 out of 10 of the sub-folders automatically received the share permissions with the main folder. However one of the 10 did not. (for some unknown reason) It did not have sharing. So apparently when the XP clients attached to the primary folder XP allowed the share to cascade to all of the sub-folders. But Window7 machines that attached to that primary folder saw the locked sub-folder and would not run. After I found the sub-folder (wav) that did not have sharing on it. I added everyone with full control and "BAMM" everything is working. Problem solved.2nd Peter 1:3-10 continuing to grow
