TroubleShooting Wizard
I recently upgraded to Win. 7 Hm Prem. from Vista Hm Prem. All went very well until I realized that none of my trouble shooting wizard functions work. When I attempt to use the wizard I get msg. "An unexpected error has occured. The trouble shooting wizard can't continue." When I look at advance, it gives me error code 0x80131700.I have tried, cmd (run as admin.) sfc/scannow, chkdsk/r, msconfig to disable all startup and svc., clean boot, and safe mode. I have Norton Internet Security. I also disabled antivirus & Firewall. I get the same results. Thanks Eplas

Hi Eplas,Error code 0x80131700 is usually relevant to the old version of .NET Framework installed on your system. By default, the built-in version of Micorosoft .NET Frameworkis 3.5.1. You canreinstall Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1through the following steps:1) Click the Start and type: features in the Search box.2) Select "Turn Windows Features on or off " and click Enter.3)Find Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1 and uncheck the box.4) Restart the computer.5) Repeat the step 1) to step 2.6) Check the box before Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1.7) Restart the computer.Or you can download the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1 package and install it. BTW, I found the following similiar issueWindows 7 Program Compatibility Wizard Troubleshooter crashingBest RegardsDale

I am hoping that you can help me with the same problem. I followed your instructions, not once, but twice and both times I get the message "SETUP ERROR" in the .net framework install window. Here is the big problem: My Windows 7 Ultimate machine claims in Network and Sharing Center that I don't have any network connections. If I browse the network, I can see other computers. I can map the entire network and I can even see my computer even though I get the yellow alert bar claiming that I am not connected to a network. I can open my shared folders from my Network Neighborhood on my computer or any other computer on the network. I recently added a computer on my network and it shows up when I browse the network, so I know that the icons are not just cached--it's actually polling the ntwork and finding the devices real time like it should. In the yellow alert bar it says, "click to connect..." and if I click it and select "connect to a network", I get the message that no network connection sare available. If I click troubleshoot, I get the 0x80131700 error message. If I try to join a homegroup, I get the message that there are no network adapters. I check my Device Manager, and there is my network adapter. I check the Network Adapter settings in the Network and Sharing Center and sure enough it's there, with TCPIP4 loaded and configured and an IP address assigned to it. If I click Troubleshoot from anywhere associated with networking I get the following error: and unknown error has occurred 0x80131700 I have disabled, re-enabled .net everything. I have even performed an update of Windows 7 Ultimate to repair the current installation and no luck. I have all the updates applied correctly and no luck. I can browse the internet, the local area network, but I can't join a homegroup and when I right-click on the network icon in the taskbar, I get the message that there are no network connections available. This is really getting frustrating and I was hoping that someone had some insight about this. Please let me know as soon as possible. Thanks in advance, Jase
