Trivia question about windows 7
I am currently a computer networking student & had an instructor ask us if we knew how many lines of code were contained in windows. Its my understanding that xp contained around 50 million lines, vista around 75 million. I am currently using win 7 enterprise & I would guess that it would contain a similar amount as vista. Can anyone give me an educated answer on this topic.

Why don't you try Microsoft Support staff? You can contact them if you have a valid Win 7 license

I've been trying to find this (mostly just out of curiosity). I haven't found any, although one person speculated 60 million lines of code for Win 7.Here are some numbers from previous versions of Windows (values are source lines of code, as far as I can tell):Windows NT 3.1 - 6 million - "The Long and Winding Windows NT Road," Business Week, Feb 22, 1999Windows 95 - 15 million - http://www.nytimes.com/2006/03/27/technology/27soft.htmlWindows 98 - 18 million - http://www.nytimes.com/2006/03/27/technology/27soft.htmlWindows 2000 - 35 million - Michael Martinez, "At Long Last Windows 2000 Operating System to Ship in February," AP December 15, 1999Windows XP - 35 million - http://www.nytimes.com/2006/03/27/technology/27soft.htmlAnother estimate: Windows XP - 45 million - Alex Salkever, "Windows XP: A Firewall for All," Business Week, June 12, 2001Windows Vista - 50 million - http://www.nytimes.com/2006/03/27/technology/27soft.htmlVista cost $6 Billion to develop - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_VistaMore estimates here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Source_lines_of_code
