Transfering files remotely
Hi We have a Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise server which has multiple network shares which are mapped as network drives on Windows 7 clients. When the client is transfering files between shares of the server, it transfers them over the internet. It's slow and not efficient. For example, 1 Gb file is very slow to be transferred. How the clients can transfer files between the server shares without transferring them over the internet? Connecting remotely to the server with RDP and transfering the files there isn't good either. Thanks for help!

Transfer rate depends not only on Windows server but entire network path. Unless you can use the path with long packets (Jumbo/Giant Frames) you are usually limited by properties on network outside you scope. Use dedicated connection of place server where there is high speed medium like fiber. Regards Milos
