Traffic blocked from a specific port on an external domain
I have a bit of a mindbending email problem. Recently I moved my email server from one server to another (all hosted) and since the move my incoming email for this account has stopped working. I can send, but not receive email. The underlying reason for
this appears to be that incoming traffic from port 110 on the web server seems to be blocked
When I try to connect for inbound mail I get Connect Error 10060 - a socket error that implies the server is not responding. However from another machine in the same network I can happily telnet to port 110. From my main machine I can also happily telnet to
port 25 on that server... just not port 110. To make things even more bizarre, I can telnet to port 110 on the server from a VM hosted on the machine.
I've checked the registry for any hardcoded references to my domain/port, but there's nothing obvious.
So i'm lost...
It's not an Outlook issue as telnet has the same problem. It's not a router issue as I can telnet from anotehr machine on the same network and from a hosted VM
If I turn off a/v (Avast) and Firewall (Windows) I get the same result It probably isn't DNS because it resolves to the right IP but just won't connect to that port
Traffic to that port is possible (from a hosted VM)
Has anybody got a clue what I can do to diagnose or fix?

Just some extra info, if I use TCPVIEW from sysinternals, I can see outbound and inbound traffic if I use telnet against port 25, but outbound traffic only if I telnet against port 110.James Beresford @ www.bimonkey.com

Turned out to be antivirus after all... it was expecting mail from that server on the SSL port (995) and blocked all other traffic.
Seems my incompetence at disabling my antivirus was part of the problem...
