You can certainly network a 32 bit WIndows Xp system with a 64 bit Windows Vista system, but in general, you cannot "share programs". Each program must be installed on the system where you intend to use it. For software that you purchase, whether or not you can legally install it on more than one machine is described in the License Agreement you accept when you install it once. For example, many of the Microsoft Office suites allow installation on exactly one PC when you license it via a Product Key Card. Those same suites allow you to install and activate it on sometimes two and sometimes three PCs, depending on the suite, when you purchase a retail license with installation kit. I know of some software that has no installation process, other than simply depositing the executable in a folder on a hard drive. If the software is freeware, you could certainly put that executable in a shared drive and run it on either PC. Again, though, if it's not freeware, the License Agreement will determine what you can and cannot do legally.Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook]--------------------------------https://mvp.support.microsoft.com/profile/Brian.TillmanIf a reply helps, please vote it as helpful. You need cables and a switch. See if this helps: http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleID=1427 -B- http://www.officeforlawyers.com | http://www.onenote-tips.com Author: The Lawyer's Guide to Microsoft Outlook

In order for a home network to work, you should have a router that connects to a cable modem or DSL modem. The router will act as a DHCP server and assign IP addresses to each device that you connect to you home network. This connection can be a wired connection or a wireless one. Naturally, you need a network adapter card in each device that should be on the network. Ethernet cables should have RJ45 plugs on them and your router will have RJ45 jacks. YOu can also connect two PCs directly to each other with crossover cables if you assign them static IP addresses that don't conflict.Microsoft has multiple guides available that will explain how to configure a home network. Here are a couple: http://www.microsoft.com/athome/organization/wirelesssetup.aspx and http://support.microsoft.com/kb/813936. Here's a Google search that will din your many more documents: http://www.google.com/search?q=guide+to+setting+up+a+home+network.Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook]--------------------------------https://mvp.support.microsoft.com/profile/Brian.TillmanIf a reply helps, please vote it as helpful.
