Toolbar buttons disappear then re-appear in OE 6
The toolbar buttons in OE 6 aren't there when I try to create new mail. But if I right click on a blank area in the toolbar I get a popup that says "TOOLBAR" and it's checked. If I click that, the toolbar window shrinks. Then if I repeat the procedure, when the toolbar expands, the buttons are there.I have tried the 'repair kit' to re-register the .dlls but some fail. Is this failure the cause of the missing toolbar buttons?Thank you J T1 person needs an answerI do too

You may have a damaged identity especially if it is the default Main Identity. File | Identity | Add New Identity. Create a new one and test it. If all is well, you can import your messages and Address Book from the old identity and delete it.Note: Do not use the word Main in the name of the new identity. How to Create and Use Identities in Outlook Expresshttp://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=209169An Outlook Express basic repair kithttp://www.microsoft.com/windows/IE/community/columns/oerepair.mspx#EHH Bruce HagenMS-MVP Oct. 1, 2004 ~ Sept. 30, 2010Imperial Beach, CA

Hi Bruce, Thanks for the speedy reply. Sadly adding a new identity didn't fix the toolbar buttons but it was worth a try. They are there if I fool with them but they aren't there immediately.Regards and happy holidays, J T

Just so I understand, you are not speaking about the bug where the buttons expand and the ones on the right are hidden, are you? If you have none at the left to start with, they may all disappear with this bug.Next time it happens, put the cursor at the bottom of the toolbar so it turns into the double arrow' Push it up and pull it back down. Do the buttons reappear? Nothing you can do about that. (Except use small icons with no text as a half-a** workaround.Bruce HagenMS-MVP Oct. 1, 2004 ~ Sept. 30, 2010Imperial Beach, CA

Bruce,It happens every time I create a new mail message. There are no buttons there at all, then if I use the procedure you describe and change the height of the toolbar area the buttons appear. If I shrink it down they get smaller , if I enlarge the area they get bigger. I guess that's the bug you describe.Sounds like " There is nothing wrong with your television set, do not attempt to adjust the picture....." RIP Vic Perrin, The Control Voice. I'll live with the bug, I don't use OE as my main email anyway. Thanks and best wishes, J T

Yup. It's the bug. Sometimes I don't see it for weeks and sometimes all day long. Nothing to do about it.Bruce HagenMS-MVP Oct. 1, 2004 ~ Sept. 30, 2010Imperial Beach, CA
