Thank you Santosh. I'm able to enable the internet connection, download software, but I'm unable to establish a new account. Prior to installing all recommended updates, my limited accounts were unable to establsih an internet connection and download software. What do you think was changed and how can I reestablish these limited account restrictions. I am on a standalone computer not connected to a network or a domain.

Thank you, Santosh. I attempted to correct this problem by running mmc and choosing group policy, but I received an error message stating that I do not have capability to change this setting because I'm running Windows XP Home Edition. However, I was using this same OS when the limited user accounts worked well. Hmmm. Any other suggestions?

Also, now when I attempt to cut and move a file from a folder, the file remains. Why is my system so unstable after installing Windows updates?

I'm also unable to establish playlists on my mp3 players, when I had this capability before the updates...any suggestions?

Hi John11111,If you have Windows XP Professional edition then you may use the Group Policy Editor to re-establish restrictions for the limited users:How To Use the Group Policy Editor to Manage Local Computer Policy in Windows XPHope this helps. Thanks and Regards,Santosh Y – Microsoft SupportVisit our Microsoft Answers Feedback Forum and let us know what you think.

Hi Santosh,Most updates were for Office, even though I don't have Office 2007. Now I only install security for XP and Media Player, but these are now unable to install.I'll try to restore to a previous point, but will I lose all of my customizations between the last time the system was working well and now? If so, is there another way to stablize my system without losing shortcuts, folder customizations, etc.?

Hi John11111,Completing the System Restore will affect any customizations and applications installed after the date of the chosen restore point. Make sure you have the media to reinstall the applications. Also, if the issue does occur even after performing system restore then, you can even undo the system restore.Hope this helps. Thanks and Regards,Santosh Y – Microsoft SupportVisit our Microsoft Answers Feedback Forum and let us know what you think.
