Time to dislplay text
Is there a way to speed up the display of text, when you hover the mouse over an icon in the taskbar.e.g. when you hover over notepad in the task bar it takes 3+ seconds for the text to appear. When notepad is not open. Many thanks.

asdy, Is this registry edit of any help to you? It only seems to affect opened programs for me, but I thought I'd put it out there.-Alex

asdy,Mine don't take 3 seconds. Closer to 1 - 1.5 seconds. You are referring to the 'Tooltip' that would pop up to show you the name of the program, right? Here's a little info on tooltips, and particularly this line:The cursor must hover over a tool for a period of time before the ToolTip is displayed. The default duration of this timeout is controlled by the user's double click time and is typically about one-half second.

Thanks for the info dwolters.(You are referring to the 'Tooltip' that would pop up to show you the name of the program.) Yes.I did play with the mouse setting but did not make much difference, half a sec perhaps. Will play a little more, many thanks. Have checked the net, and it appears that it requires code, ,and some people are saying an update in tooltips is needed just a bit to tech for me.Allso my problem only appears to be with icons in the taskbar, all other icons show text display 1-1.5 secs. Will continue to investigate.

asdy,Here's what I've done and found...1. Added the quicklaunch folder as a toolbar.2. Raised my taskbar to a second row and placed the quicklaunch over my taskbar (quicklaunch on top, taskbar underneath).3. Hover over a taskbar icon, 2 seconds roughly.4. Hover over a quicklaunch icon, .5 to 1 second.5. Hover over a taskbar icon until tooltip appears, then move to next icon on taskbar... tooltip repeats 2 second load.6. Hover over quicklaunch icon until tooltip appears, then move to next icon on quicklaunch... instant tooltip. So I canquickly get the tooltips on the quicklaunch toolbar, but the taskbar tooltips are very slow by comparison. I suspect it has to do with thecoding that shows you a preview of an active program.
