This computer can't connect to the remote computer - Windows 7 / Windows Server 2008
I have a simple setup. Linksys router. All computers hard wired to the router (no wireless). I use to be able to connect my Windows 7 Ultimate Desktop computer to my Windows Server 2008 file server via Remote Desktop. It stopped all of a sudden with the error: "this computer can't connect to the remote computer". I do not have windows Firewall setup on either machine (as I am behind a router with NAT enabled). I am looking for a checklist to walk through on how to diagnose this issue. I can see my server. I can connect to all the shared directories. I can even use a program I wrote to share display space similar to what RD does. This is not rocket science as it should just work. The server is visible as I server videos off of it too all my desktops around the house RD is enabled on both machines. There are no DNS issues as the server name or IP address plunked in the RDC connect gives the same error I have RD on server set to less secure option As mentioned previously, this use to work and now it doesn't. The server has not been updated since the issue started (leads me to believe it is a client issue). Any suggestions please Network setup Windows Server 2008 - file server (no domain setup) Desktop 1: Windows 7 Ultimate Desktop 2: Windows 7 Professional Desktop 3: Windows 7 Professional Only trying to connect via desktop 1, but none of the desktops work. Quick note: Server has 2 administrator logins. I have tried both and neither will work. I would prefer to fix this problem, rather than hook peripherals to the server (desktop space is getting a bit crowded already) Thanks

What happens when you telnet to port 3389 of the windows server 2008 box? Also could this be a Client Access License issue? Thanks,
