This computer can't connect to the remote computer. Try connecting again. If the problem continues, contact the owner of the remote computer or your network administrator.
Here's the thing. I own a small business with 10 computer running windows xp and a server running microsoft 2003. I just upgraded one of the computers and it has Windows 7 ultimate on it. When I try to connect to the server using the LAN ip address I get the following error message: This computer can't connect to the remote computer. Try connecting again. If the problem continues, contact the owner of the remote computer or your network administrator. Thing is, I am the owner of the remote computer and the network administrator! Now here comes the really weird part. I setup a free dns account (***.dyndns.org) for my network. If I type in the WAN address (***.dyndns.org) the computer will connect to the server. Keep in mind, the computer is connected to the local network. All of the other Xp computers connect flawlessly. I even have a laptop that i brought in that has windows 7 and it connects to the server using the LAN ip address. I have searched and searched for answers and still no answer. Help?

Hi, Based on my research, I would like to suggest the following: 1. Since another Windows 7 computer works fine, please check if there is anything different on their network settings. 2. Check if the problematic computer can ping the server with IP Address or Server Name. 3. Check if the problematic computer can connect to some other computers on the network. Thanks.
