Themes showing black background in Personalization window
Just now I was trying to change my Windows 7 theme, when I noticed that the background portion of the theme sample is always black. The link below points to the image of how the Windows7 Desktop Theme Selection Window appears on my computer and as it should be: Does anyone know why?PJ on Development

Hi, which Windows Edition do you use? Windows 7 Starter? Have you looked into the folder C:\Windows\Web\Wallpaper. Do you see the wallpapers? if not, they are beeing deleted and so you can't see them and Windows shows them als black in Personalization window. I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate, and yes the files are there. Still, I have no idea why this is happening.I have downloaded a new theme from the web, and the image appears fine.PJ on Development

Have you installed any third party theme? If so, please uninstall it and see if the issue can be resolved. If the issue persists, please access Clean Boot to check the issue. If the issue disappears in the Clean Boot environment, we continue to narrow down which entry is causing the issue. Also, please check if the issue occurs in a new user account. If the issue still exists, use System File Checker to scan for the system files: 1. Insert the Windows 7 installation DVD into the DVD-ROM; Click Exit if the auto-menu pops up. 2. Open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow. 3. At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER: sfc /scannow Hope this helps. Regards, Linda

The only way I was able to revert the situation was to create a new user. I did try to export the new user registry to my old user... but that made a mess... :-\PJ on Development
