The user profile service service failed to logon user profile cannot be loaded.
This is the first time I have had to set up a laptop to work on and off a domain. My customer wants to use the laptop in the office on the domain, which I currently have it set up for, and they can access their files and programs on the small business server 2008. Now the problem as you probable guessed. When they take the laptop on the road or home they can not logon they get the message "The user profile Service service failed the logon user profile cannot be loaded" I would have thought if could not find the server then it would create their domain profile as a local proifle and every goes home happy. And as you might have guessed they would want to have all the same desktop setting they use for the domain to be the same localy. Thanks for the help....

Hi, This error may occur if the "Do not logon users with temporary profiles" Group Policy setting is configured. Please confirm with the domain admin. Also, please understand that this is Windows 7 Forum while this issue is more Server related. In order to get the answer effectively, it is recommended to submit a new question in Windows Server Forum. Regards, Sabrina

Thanks for all the great help everyone. I finally have the problem resolve. What most likely caused the problem? When I used the Microsoft Windows 7 Easy Transfer application to copy the files and setting from the desktop to the laptop, as near as I can tell. This somehow corrupted the cashed domain profile, and it was not working. So I had to rebuild the domain user profile. The Resolution was to sign on as the local user profile and then copy all of the user files from the bad domain user file. Not copying any of the hidden NET files to another directory. Renaming the bad Domain User id Profile. (may not have had to copy the files after this) Then sign in to the domain to create a new domain user profile on the laptop. Then copy all the files from the old domain user profile file to the new one. The only drawback to this solution was I and to manually recreate the desktop setting and manually move the outlook data and setting back in outlook, and remap network drive. After I verified the setting and tested the laptop outside the domain. Then I went back in to the user files and deleted the bad domain user id profile. Everything seem to be work correctly now. As I can sign in to the domain weather the laptop is in the domain or offsite at some other network. Thanks for everyone’s helpWarning Object are futher then they appear
