The srv2 service failed to start due to the following error: srv2 is not a valid Win32 application.
I am having problem with srv2 service to start because it is not a valid Win32 Application. It started giving me this problem after a computer crash. I was debugging a program with Visual Studio 2005 during the incident. It first complain was about ndis.sys was corrupt. It took a while to finally get the system back booting, but now server service and computer browser was not working. Of course the second is dependent on the first and the server service is dependent on the srv2. I am not able to access this machine from any of my other computers on the network, but I have full connectivity outside this computer. (i.e. Web browser, Skype, File shares, etc) It seems very similar to this posting: http://forums.microsoft.com/TechNet/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2743977&SiteID=17. I would happy to provide Microsoft with whatever logs needed to diagnose this issue. It smells like a firewall problem to me, but I have disable it, enabled it, and every other setting I could image. Any assistance would be appreciated. Regards,

Hi phebous, I suggestperforming the following steps for troubleshooting: 1. Scan system file by using System File Checker tool:How to repair the operating system and how to restore the operating system configuration to an earlier point in time in Windows Vistahttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/936212/ 2. Check the value of the registry entry ImagePath:1) Open Registry Editor (regedit.exe).2) Locate to the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\srv2.3) In the right pane, check if the value of the registry entry ImagePath is System32\DRIVERS\srv2.sys. If not, please backup the registry key and correct it. Please understand that debugging and dump analysis should be needed to troubleshoot this issue. However, debugging service is out of our Forums support boundaries. A support call to our product service team is needed for the debugging service. Thus, if the above steps do not help, I'd like to recommend that you contactMicrosoft Customer Service and Support (CSS) for further assistance: To obtain the phone numbers for specific technology request please take a look at the website listed below:http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=fh;EN-US;PHONENUMBERS Thank you for your understanding.
