The remote device or resource wont accept the connection
I've been having serious trouble with this, and I've tried pretty much everything I can. I run Windows 7. Recently, I installed Malwarebytes to remove malware from my computer that had been giving me a ton of problems, and ran CCleaner to wipe Internet Explorer's
files, and clean up the registry a bit.
There weren't any problems at first, but awhile later, Internet Explorer stopped being able to connect, though I could still connect with Firefox. I figured it wouldn't be that big of a deal, since I don't use Internet Explorer, but it ended up stopping
many programs from updating or patching.
So, I tried something mentioned in another post, and restored Internet Explorer to it's default settings, which didn't work. Then I disabled Internet Explorer's program entirely from the Control Panel, and rebooted to reconfigure Windows. It worked again,
until later that night, when it suddenly stopped working. So I toggled it back on, and the same thing happened. It worked for awhile, before stopping again. After that I toggled it back off, and installed Internet Explorer 9. It worked until I went to sleep,
and got back on this morning.
I'm growing very frustrated with this, because I don't know what could be changing in these brief periods of time that would make it suddenly stop connecting. I should also probably note that I'm using a Cricket Wireless adaptor, and have had no problems
before I removed the malware, so I think it must've modified something. Also, when I connect to 'Cricket Broadband Network', it connects fine, but if I attempt to manually connect to the connection that has the wireless bars on it, it gives me the error 'Your
connection request timed out.' If anyone can help me fix this, it'd be very much appreciated.
Thanks for your time.

Just an update, it worked when I connected to the wireless connection instead of Cricket Broadband Network (turns out I had to disconnect first -facepalm-)... but are there any ideas why it doesn't work anymore on Cricket Broadband network?

Hi,
It seems this is related to the malware, they would have damaged some important files. Currently,
I would suggest you try the following steps to check the result:
1.
Run SFC command to see if it can fix some corrupted system files:
How to use the System File Checker tool
to troubleshoot missing or corrupted system files on Windows Vista or on Windows 7
2.
Reinstall the network adapter.
3.

Connect to the Cricket Broadband network, do an ipconfig /all
at the command prompt and post the results here. I'll try to assist you further after that, thanks!Kunal D Mehta - a Windows Server Enthusiast |
