The product key will not be accepted into my computer. I received the product key from Microsoft on 6/20/09. When I type it in it says an error has occured, retype. I do and it is always the same. What should I do now?
I'm a vista Volunteer and i need to usemy computer a lot for my assignment. I had a laptop, but I had used up most of the capicity and it died. I had asked Microsoft for a cheaper version of 7 as I could afford to buy the 7 package. They sent me a trial of RC 7, The product key was sent to me 6/20/09. When I tried to install it on my old computer it wouldn't install. Two weeks later my computer died. I had to buy a new computer. I was told it had Windows Vista on it. I entered the product key and I did have Vista for two weeks. Then I lost it. When I called the store where I bought the computer, they told me I only had a short trial peroid and I had to buy the upgrade. I cannot afford the upgrade. In order to do my job I need the upgrade. I tried to install the product key on my new computer and it won't accept it. What now? I tried askin Microsoft about the problem and they sent me here. So, here I am.

I think you are confusing Microsoft Office 2007 with Microsoft Windows 7. Computer manufacturers often install a trial version of Microsoft Office. If you are getting a prompt to type in a Product Key when opening a Microsoft Office program, it is likely the trial period is over and you'll need to purchase a license (product key) for Microsoft Office. The product key affixed to your computer is for Windows Vista (the operating system) and not for Microsoft Office. Hi Linda,Carey's response notwithstanding, are you saying you simply cannot run the operating system on your computer? What does a "vista Volunteer" do? I have not heard this term before. Just curious.-Noel
