The network denies access to shareable resources om all Pcs.
My XP pro based home network does not allow any more to display and not access the shared resources at several pc-s connected by a router modem. The messages are always: Access denied, you have possibly not authority to access this resource. The network places seems quite normal to me, but I am not a network technician, only a novice in this field.1 person needs an answerI do too

Since these are XP Pro machines, a lot depends on whether Simple File Sharing is enabled or not.If Simple File Sharing is enabled, then all access to shares is via the Guest account. Make sure your Guest account is "Active" on all serving machines (as opposed to "Enabled" -- which doesn't matter) and that there is not a password on the Guest user. The "Net User Guest" command from a command window will show you this status. If Simple File Sharing is Disabled, then if the Guest account is not active and the same username exists on a different machine with a different password, then access will be denied. Make the passwords the same for similar users on all machines."How to disable simple file sharing and how to set permissions on a shared folder in Windows XP" < http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307874 >HTH, JW

Thanks for the answer. I have to repeat reading it and more thorughly because I did not exactly grasp the practical use of it, that means I have not found out how to use this information with success.I have had no success so far, but I have tried to change the firewalls, and I have tried looking for some central setting in the system to set the simple share option, but I have not found it, yet. The situations are the same. Both Pc's denies admitting access to those files which are set to be shared on each of them. But how could this happen? The situation before was like that I had experienced for some years now with different mixes of operating systems, and I know taht for a year I have all three pCs sharing simply the sharable files acrooss the the network without doing nothing more than setting up th enetwork using the wizard for this operation. So for a couple months ago all Pc's turn thi soption down but the network says nothing beforehand. was it some 4th pc with media center that choke it? I do not know. I would really know so I get wiser on these matters.

Try the Windows Networking equivalent of a "ping"... Bring up a command prompt window (Start -> Run -> "cmd") then enter the command: nbtstat -a computernameWhere "computername" is replaced with the computer name of another computer on the network. You should receive about half a dozen lines back from the target computer. Also, sometimes connecting via a command prompt can result in a better error description. In the same command prompt window try connecting using the following command: net use * \\computername\sharenameWhere you replace "computername" with the name of another computer and "sharename" with the name of the share on that computer.HTH, JW
