The local policy of this system does not permit you to log on interactively
I know this has been asked before, and I have read every answer and tried to follow each and every suggestion, but I am so non tech savy that I cannot get it to work. I have a lap top that has windows 7 and a desk top with windows xp. They are both set up for remote access, I'm pretty sure. I know the desk top is because when I was working I used to log on to the computer at work, so I know it's okay. But what I want to do is use my lap top to remotely access my desk top and that is where I get the message - on my lap top. I was wondering if someone could connect to my lap top and see what I am doing wrong? Thank you. jepeters@insightbb.com

One PC isn't granting you access onto the other PC. Even though Remote Desktop could be enabled, security settings are blocking the actual connection. If in a WORKGROUP, this can be a pain. You need to have a same account name on each PC. If the PC is in a DOMAIN, you will need to have your system administrator add your user account to "Remote Desktop Users". To do this: Click Start Right click "My Computer", select "Properties" Open "Local Users and Groups" Expand "Groups" Double-click "Remote Desktop Users" Add your account there. (Example: domain\jepeters probably? I am guessing by your email address.) Hope this helps.MCSE: 6771498
