The last backup did not complete successfully.
Attemting to run Windows backup on an Acer Aspire 5050 laptop using Windows 7 Home Premium (32 bit) ver 6.1, service pack 1 on an external WDC My Passport 465GB. Received error message window: "Back up or restore your files" with error message: "Check your backup; The last backup did not complete successfully Clicked "more information" button: The " "Windows Backup Troubleshooting Options" window appeared with, "Check your backup, Windows Backup failed while trying to read from the shadow copy on one of the volume being backed up. Please check in the event logs for any releveant errors. Referred to other related topics none proved relevant to this error type. Clicked "show details" button. Showed the following: Backup time 4/15/2012 2:03 AM Backup location: New Volume (F:) Error code: 0x81000037

Thank you for your reply. I can not find the resparse point to unmount after following the steps in the kb. When I right click on properties the folder type does not indicate it as a mounted volume.

Hi, Since the backup location is F drive, please run F: command first. After running DIR /AL /S command, please check if you receive any "reparse point". If so, please use fsutil reparsepoint query command to check if any reparse point is included in backup list. F: DIR /AL /S fsutil reparsepoint query C:\Users\Test\Music Meanwhile, please click run, type cmd in the search box, right click cmd and run as administrator, then run chkdsk f: /f /r command to check the result. Hello Ms. Han, Followed your directions. My external drive is actually G. The chkdsk showed no reparse points. Tried running backup again and received same error.

Also ran the fsutil reparsement query command against the list of junction dir found on c: all came back as no reparsement found.
