Hi,On my research I have found two of your post where Gerry C J Cornell and LemP have replied to your post. Please answer their questions. This may help us in assisting you better. For now let’s try the below steps and check.Step 1: If the issue has started recently then, try performing system restore and check.Refer: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306084Step 2: Optimize modem settings:a. Click Start, and then click Control Panel . b. Click Printers and Other Hardware. c. Click Phone and Modem Options. d. On the Dialing Rules tab, select the location that is being used, and then clickEdit. e. Verify that the correct country is selected in the Country/regionbox, and then click OK.Note If the wrong country is selected, problems may occur because the modem adapts to each country's telephone system. These systems have various dial tones, line speeds, and so on.f. Click the Modems tab. g. Select the modem that you want to optimize, and then click Properties.Note If no modem is detected on the Modems tab, refer the customer to the computer manufacturer.h. Click the Modem tab. i. Set Maximum Port Speed to 57600. j. Click the Advanced tab. k. Verify that on the Country/Region drop down menu, the country that the caller is located in is selected. Note If the wrong country is selected, it can cause several problems because each modem must adapt to the particularities of each country’s telephone system. These include differences in dial tone, line speed, and so on. l.
