as a first step, make sure you're running the latest sound driver. i'd try windows update first, and then if nothing is offered, i'd try the vendor's support website for the latest available vista drivers, which might need to be installed in compatibility mode, if there is a windows version mismatch warning. hth. * If you feel your question was answered helpfully, please mark the reply as the Answer, so others can find it. * If you are helped by an answer to another member's q-n-a, please vote for the thread as Helpful.

sorry. can't offer any more. updating drivers fixed my audio (not realtek) right up. you may want to search the forums with your card's model # as key word(s) here and see anyone else has had the same issue and found a solution. good luck. * If you feel your question was answered helpfully, please mark the reply as the Answer, so others can find it. * If you are helped by an answer to another member's q-n-a, please vote for the thread as Helpful.

PedroMRP,Is there anything in the Event Log about this issue? Did you get the driver from the Realtek site, or from the manufacturer of your computer?

Hello PedroMRP,Which build of Windows 7 RC are you currently running, the 32 or 64 bit? In the 64 bit build i get the best results for Realtek integrated HD audio device using the Microsoft driver version 6.1.7100.0. In the 32 bit build the Microsoft driver also works really well but there appear to several versions as I've tried quite a few. If you roll the driver back to defaults or uninstall the device and then let Windows install with its default driver this may clear up the service shutting down.
