The Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) service hung on starting. __The server {A1F4E726-8CF1-11D1-BF92-00600 81ED811} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.
Since early April 2010, my computer started to shut down immediately after starting it or at times a bit later. Many system errors, and other events were reported in the error log, including many of this:"The PMEM service failed to start due to the following error-The system could not find the specified file- After 31/2 months I gave up fixing this and used F11 to reboot or reload the system to the original system; Have upgraded and updated some 135 items, installed IE8, WinXP Pro +SP3, and lastly my HP Laser Jet 5P printer. Tried to strt the computer a few hours later but it shut off immediately after, within 2-3 seconds; repeating this a few times. Unpluged the printer, the computer started; The Error log showd 2 items, repeated several times. i.e.1)The Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) service hung on starting. 2)The server {A1F4E726-8CF1-11D1-BF92-00600 81ED811} did not register with DCOM withinthe required timeout. Can anyone help Please? Do I have to go into msconfig and such? I am tired & out of patience with this and the help I received from MS Tech Support. Please Help! Thank you!
