The Information Bar does not show in Windows XP Pro SP3 and IE 8.0 when an Active X is required.
The Informastion bar does show up in other applications, as required. All security settings are a duplicate of a system that does work, same configuration. This is a new build and I can't load Adobe Reader, for example, as it has to load the download manager first. Loading IE with No-Addons does display the information bar with the No Addon message.1 person needs an answerI do too

Hi FrustratedWindozeUser, 1. Have you made any recent changes on the computer?2. Are you able to install other programs on the computer? This may happen if the internet explorer settings are not set correctly.I would suggest that you try resetting the internet explorer settings to default and check. For more information refer the below link. How to reset Internet Explorer settingshttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737 Important: Reset Internet Explorer to its default configuration. This step will also disable any add-ons, plug-ins, or toolbars that are installed. Although this solution is quick, it also means that, if you want to use any of those add-ons in the future, they must be reinstalled. Can't install Adobe Readerhttp://kb2.adobe.com/cps/836/cpsid_83641.html Hope this helps!Halima S - Microsoft Support.Visit our Microsoft Answers Feedback Forum and let us know what you think.
