Testing a Site level Dial Plan

Guys,

We have recently added a branch site in our environment but sonus gateway for branch site is not configured yet. I have added it to the topology builder by requesting our Global admin to do it.

I have got the dial plans and Normalization rule for the new site but I am not sure how I can test it now. I thought of putting myself on NEW branchsite pool and set dial plan as automatic which I thought should take site level Dial Plan but obviously it does not(as user can get user level/Global dial plan only)! Figured out when I tried to force grant the site dial plan to the user and got denied error.

Next, I was thinking to create a CAP phone on NEW site which should get site based dial plan but since gateway is not setup/active, it will fall back to the main branchsite. So I wont be able to test dial plan again.

Gateway config will take another 2-3 weeks and I want to test everything else before that.

Any Sugges

users who are enabled for a pool will get the Site dial plan which are configured for that site where the pool belongs to. User will get "User" dial plans only when it's assigned against a user. If not, it will be either Global or Site. And if a site dial plan is present, it will get assigned for the user instead of global. Set the dial plan as Automatic and click on "View" next to it to see what's the dial plan that it get assigned.

You can't really test things much further than the 'dialled number to test' options within the dial plan. Although as already mentioned, you shouldn't need to worry too much as any user associated to that site will inherit the plan unless they have a user level one associated to them.

Kind regards

Hi,

For Lync Server dial plan, there are four scopes: Global, Site, Pool and User. You can test the Site Dial Plan with the Option dialed number to test as Ben provided above.

Please make sure that, if you set any Pool scope and User scope dial plan, it will override the Site scope Dial Plan.

Thank you team!

I was under assumption that since gateway for the new site is not configured, even though I registered user on the NEW site pool it will fall back to the back up pool and inherit its Dial Plan and VP.

Good to know!!
