Terrible speed over network
I recently went from an evaluation version of Windows 7 Ultimate to a licensed copy and now my windows network speed is terrible. I just spent 2 hours with Microsoft tech support and it is still not fixed. All machines except one are running XP Pro sp3 they will all access each other and the server fine. But trying to access the Windows 7 machine or using the Windows 7 machine to access them is unusable. For example to open a file that would normally take about 15 seconds on any of the XP machines takes about 20 minutes on the Windows 7 machine. Any ideas or suggestions? What is weird is that my internet access which also runs through the network (workgroup) is fine with normal speeds.

Hi, Here are some suggestions you can try: 1. Restart the machine in Safe Mode with Networking and verify whether the speed can be quicker or not. 2. Upgrade the NIC driver to the latest one. If the driver is already the latest or there is no driver for Windows 7, I suggest you uninstall the current driver and reinstall the driver in Compatibility Mode. 3. Move the Windows 7 machine to another network for a test. Does the issue persist? Thanks, Novak
