Taskbar question
When I hover over an entry in the taskbar I get a balloon pop-up that shows the contents. What's that "feature" called and how do I get rid of it.I've tried searching in the taskbar options, tried searching for "privacy" with no luck. In fact, I can't find anything related to privacy on the whole OS. I've tried every entry I could think of but got nothing.I'm sure I'm just one click away but I just can't find where to do that click.thanks

Well, I've done some digging and unfortunately I can't find anything either that will disable it on its own. However, if you go into the System screen in Control Panel and go to Advanced Settings, if you set your Appearance settings to "Best Performance" it will disable it, in addition to making the desktop resemble the classic Windows interface.I agree with you, there's probably something PAINFULLY obvious we're missing, but that's what I found at any rate.Hope it helps some, if only to put anyone else on the right track.Main computer: HP Pavilion DV9000 - MS Windows Vista Home Premium: 64-bit. Thanks Crow, that got rif of it. Had to reset some of the Personalization colors but that's no problem. You're also right about right about making it have the "classic" look. I like it a LOT better. I was beginning to think nobody knew what I was talking about. Thanks again, I appreciate it.Marked it as "THE" answer

Hi Crow, me again. I've been experimenting and found you can still use the "custom" setting but just uncheck the last box "Use visual styles on windows and buttons". That's where the culprit resides.

Ah, cool. That's nice to know, as while I'm not big on visual flare (I prefer simplicity) it's still neat to see what the "high class" settings look like and what all that hardware can do. heheh. Glad to be of help, and thank you for the further info!Main computer: HP Pavilion DV9000 - MS Windows Vista Home Premium: 64-bit.
