Taskbar Pinning Problems
I already have several items pinned to my taskbar and did so without a problem. But now when I try to add another by right click dragging an icon from my desktop it says "PINNED" on the context menu as if it is already pinned to the taskbar but it is not. This is not new but has been this way for several weeks. I cannot recall a specific event that may have caused this. I have had this installation: Windows 7/Home Premium/64bit/8Gb since Oct '10. Any ideas?

Hi, I would like to explain the pinned items information were stored in the two following locations: File Folder: “%APPDATA%\\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned\TaskBar Registry: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Taskband] Since you can not pin a shortcut to the Taskbar, I suspect corrupt file or incorrect registry setting may cause the issue. I suggest you may check the permissions of the folder and registry and check the folder and registry. If it is “Read Only”, any program can not be pin in taskbar. If the problem persists, I’m just wondering if you may take a screenshot for the “%APPDATA%\\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned\TaskBar” and the export the registry for us. However, by collecting this information now, it will help us move more quickly toward a solution. The following step is to help you to get a screenshot for us that we think would be helpful. How to capture a screenshot ====================== 1. Press the Print Screen key (PrtScn) on your keyboard when the error appears. 2. Click "Start", type "mspaint" in the Search Bar and Press Enter. 3. In the Paint program, click the "Edit", click "Paste". Then click the "File" menu, and select "Save". 4. The "Save As" dialogue box will appear. Type a file name in the "File name:" box, for example: "screenshot". 5. Make sure "JPEG (*.JPG;*.JPEG;*.JPE;*.JFIF)" is selected in the "Save as type" box, click "Desktop" on the left pane and then click "Save". 6. Upload the screenshot to a photo sharing site, such as SkyDrive, and post a link here. The following step is to help you to export and upload the registry: 1. Click Start button, type regedit in the Search box, and then press ENTER. 2. Go to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Taskband] 3. Right-click the item, click Export, Save a backup file. 4. Upload the file via SkyDrive ,and post a link here. Hope that helps Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
