Task Scheduler Windows 7
Hey people, I have searched for an answer but my problem seems specific. I want to run itunes at startup (before logging on) so I created a task to run on my local profile. The reason for this is so that I can leave my laptop on (but not logged on) to use home share on another networked computer . (edit* I do not just want to add iTunes.exe to the startup folder. This isn't allowing me you use Home Share on another computer before I log on. Also I'd rather not have the iTunes window automatically open neccessarily when I do log on)* So I created a new executable task trigger on system startup on my local profile. I have the right idea, it works, however my problem lies when I go on to my laptop on my local profile (my laptop is the source of all my files) it will not allow me to open the already running instance of iTunes, nor will it close and reopen. I get an error message: "You cannot open the application "iTunes" because another user has it open. Ask the other user to quit the application, and try again. This is odd because I am the user running it. When I open task manager, the process does not show unless I click "show processes from all users (?) but when I do click this, iTunes.exe shows up as running on my local profile as I intended? I tried to run as administrator when executing, but that gives me the same error message. Is there any solution without having to manually stop the task from task scheduler for me to run another instance of iTunes, or to open the instance that is already running? Thanks in advance for any help. Madden.

In Windows Vista and Windows 7, when the application launches at startup before logon, it was launched by system account, but not your user account. The iTunes issue is caused by its design.
