Task Scheduler
In XP, you could get to Scheduled Tasks via the Control Panel. In Win 7 (and probably Vista) you have to navigate to All Programs, Accessories, System Tools. Is there any way to add Task Scheduler to the Control Panel? I've tried sending it to the Desktop then drag it to Control Panel, but that doesn't work. Does everything in the Control Panel have to be a .cpl? The properties for Task Scheduler is: %windir%\system32\taskschd.msc /s

There is a shortcut to Task Scheduler in Administrative Tools in Control Panel. You can also type ta in the Start Menu search box to quickly bring upTask Scheduler.Jim - MVP Windows Live - Forum Moderator - Live One Care - Live Mesh - Microsoft Security Essentials

Thanks Jim, still not used to the Search function. I'll make the leap forward one of these days. Other than that, there is no way to actually add apps to the Control Panel then? While I'm on the subject of Control Panel, one thing I really miss is being able to add the Controll Panel as a Toolbar to Task Manager. This was something I did on every computer I worked on or owned since I find myself using Control Panel often.

Hi Ztruker, We cannot directly put Control Panel to Toolbar as it is not actually a folder but to collect all CPL files in System32 folder and show them as shortcuts. Here is a suggestion: 1. Right click on Taskbar, chose Toolbar --- Desktop. 2. We can find Control Panel in Desktop toolbar. Let's move it to the first one so that we can find it easier. Note: Some icons here cannot be deleted (they will be re-created automatically).

Thanks Shaon. Tried it but that's not what I'm looking for. Instead, I ended up putting a shortcut to Control Panel on my Desktop, right above the TaskBar, where I would normally see it if it was a Toolbar.

Thanks for the reply. There is 2 more suggestions: 1. We can pin the Control Panel shortcut to Taskbar. Right click on it will show some recently used components in Control Panel. 2. We can pin the recently used icons to the right click list so that it can be found easier.
