Take Ownership good practice
First: IMHO the primary is goal. What you want to achieve? Second: Do not touch functionality behind commonly accepted procedures if you want to have continuously working system. Third: Use "take ownership" if you want to reset security status. (I have never changed security structure in root objects.) Regards Milos

Hi, The root drive of system is in protection of Windows 7, you receive prompt message is a normal phenomenon due to this is a protecting mechanism, it is strongly recommended not to take ownership of a system drive, this may put your windows 7 in danger. Hi Milos...thanks for your reply...I installed a new win 7 OS and joined to the domain. When I was trying to access the folders under the Program files (x86) and Prog files, I got message - you need to have admin privileges to open (even in my admin account). Then I changed the ownership in the owner tab to Admin group and I didnt get that message. Then I was trying to look for some good practice...Any advice...pls let me know...or do you think I have to re-install the OS again to continue...VT
