TOO MANY FIREWALLS?
Hello, I wonder if you can help me pls?I have McAfee Firewall running at the same time as AOL System Mechanic (which I believe also has a firewall) ALSO Windows XP Firewall. Will this damage my PC performance by these running programs conflicting with each other and would this slow down my start up which takes about 8-10 mins from turning on my PC to actually getting on line1 person needs an answerI do too

Moreover, not only does more than one firewallhurt your performance, it can also cause problems as they interferewith one another. Having more than one also gives you no extraprotection. Thank you for the advice. I shall do as you suggest.Only one thing bothers me though, When I check on System Mechanic 10 and check my firewall it tells me McAFEE has it turned on!BUT I have already gone to my McAfee settings and turned itOFF....are these two of the same programe?I have also turned OFF windows security...is this all correct?I do appreciate your help.Thank you.

I suggest go to control panel and then Security Center and open it and under firewall , it will show status of your firewall, one Firewall at least must be enable.

you should only be running one firewall, Uninstall either the Mcafee or the System Mechanic, Leave the windows firewall alone.Example: If you choose Mcafee it will take control of the windows firewall automatically.Using more than one firewall can cause your system to do many strange things, So when you uninstall one of the firewalls make sure you remove it all.IC3QU33N
