TMG cannot upgrade to SP1

Hi, guys

Recently, I intend to upgrade TMG to SP1. I have download the SP1(TMG-KB981324-AMD64-ENU.msp) from MS download center. However, when I install it, it shows this error:

The upgrade patch cannot be installed by the windows Installer service because the program to be upgraded may be missing, or the upgrade patch may update a different version of the program. Verify that the program to be upgraded exists on your computer and that you have the correct upgrade patch.

I have tried several methods on internet, but still have this issue. Now, TMG works well except web protection service, I have no license due to I install TMG in test environment.

I install TMG on windows server 2008 R2 datacenter, is it caused by this?

I really want to know what happened, why once I install SP1, it shows the error above.

Nice Day

Timmoon,

Try this method. Open and elevated privilege command prompt. Navigate to the directory where the patch was download. Type in the first 3 or 4 characters of the patch name and hit tab (it should fill in the rest) and then press Enter.

I have seen several instances where this was the only way it would run.

Timmoon,

Download and try installing the x86 file and not the AMD64 file.

So you would install the file TMG-KB981324-x86-ENU.msp

Even if your machine uses AMD you still should try to run x86. Try that one using the method i mentioned before.
