I have used various TFTP programs for many years on XP and Vista, but guess what, I can not get any of them to work on Windows 7!!!!! I have enabled the programs in the firewall and enabled practically everything in Control Panel->Turn windows features On. I can see the TFTP requests in Wireshark but my PC will not serve them. My machine is a quad core originally specified for Vista, I have a spare network card and a 1 gig card that is fairly new and I can not get TFTP to work on either of them. Does anybody have any ideas? Thanks

I've been using the Solar Windows TFTP server for x64. You can find it using your favorite search engine. Hi and thanks for the response. I too have tried Solar Winds TFTP, the help says that it is compatible with x64 systems but I've not had any joy. The default location in Programs files was the x86 directory, I would assume that this should not make any difference.

Does it work if you disable the antivirus and firewall? Another possible cause is that the TFTP programs you are using are not compatible with Windows 7. You can try to start a FTP server without third party programs. Thanks for your response and for jogging me into being a bit more thorough. I'd already tried the firewall by attempting to allow giving my application permission, however I could not see the entry in the list as it is an application that we've developed in house as we have not bothered with setting the Resource\Version\FileDescription property in the solution. I'd tried to add but it said that it was already present and therefore assumed that it had permission. Turning the firewall completely off enabled the TFTP app so I knew that it wouldwork. After inspecting the list a bit more thoroughly I noticed the entries that had no description and looked at their details and found the entry for our TFTP app. I then proceeded to try all of the combinations for the different types of networks and managed to get it to work. I'm still a little confused as to why my additional 'Private' network card comes under the 'Public Networks' category and not the 'Home or Private' one. Anyway problem solved!
