Systems reboots after going to sleep mode after Windows 7 installation
I have a Thinkpad X200 which was running on Vista until recently. Since I started facing system hanging up and wireless netowrk connection issues I clean installed Win 7 ultimate. I am facing several issues after installing Win 7. My fingerprint reader doesnt
work anymore. I tried to install digital persona driver which the system denies to install saying 'compatibility issue'.
My major concern is with another problem. Whenever i close the lid or put the system into 'sleep mode' and when I try to bring the system back it reboots. A couple of times a lost the unsaved data. And other programs that were not closed while the system
rebooted, fail to work properly after it reboots (like outlook etc). It seems that Win7 has some serious bugs which needs to be corrected soon..
Please help!!!

I have exactly the same problem with my brand new (custom) Windows 7 system. After sleep the system usually just reboots, and some programs occasionally don't work properly. Very frustrating.
PC: ACPI x64-based PC
OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium
PROCESSOR|: QuadCore Intel Core i7 870, 3200 MHz
MAINBOARD: Intel Kingsberg DP55KG
SSD: Corsair CSSD-F120GB2 12OGb (System and Programs)
HDD: WD Green 1.5TB
HDD 2: WD Green 1.5TB
DIMM1: Corsair 4 GB DDR3-1066 DDR3 SDRAM
DIMM3: Corsair 4 GB DDR3-1066 DDR3 SDRAM
VIDEO CARD: Matrox MP-PCIe-9064
MONITORS: 2 NEC MultiSync LCD2170NX
I've read some things about preventing certain hardware from going into deep sleep mode but have no idea how to do this.

I have the Microsoft branded digital persona fingerprint reader (2 actually) and it wont work with Windows 7 and MS apparently have no intention of providing an updated driver. MS never look after their (PC) hardware users and I for one will
never buy a Microsoft branded peripheral again.
In regards to the rebooting perhaps their is an update program forcing the reboot (e.g. MS update, Antivirus). Sometimes for critical updates they will force the reboot after a certain amount of time so if your machine is in sleep during
that time it may do the reboot immediately upon waking. Check the event view to see if there are any log entries showing if the reboot was deliberate.
Also, could be a driver not compatible with sleep causing a blue screen upon wake - you could try disabling the automatic reboot on blue screen to see if that is happening.

Sorry for the tardy reply Beneuto (I didn't get a notification of your reply). The PC is going to the shop tomorrow where they are going to try and sort it out for me. They have some good technicians there so hopefully they can find the problem quick enough.
I didn't know you could disable the automatic reboot btw. Good to know for next time....
