System takes time boot and load programs.
Original Title: Explorer 7I recently installed explorer 7 from 6. everything seems to be working ok, but it is taking a very long time for my system to boot up and load programs. Any suggestions?

Was everything speedy back when when you were running IE6? Or might you have had performance issues then, too?Do you have many toolbars in IE7? (That is a common cause of performace problems.) Try running IE7 in No Add-ons Mode and see what your performance is like.Regarding loading up, once everything is loaded up, does performance improve? Or is it still slow?What security programs do you run? For instance, if you are running Norton or McAfee, it might be using lots of CPU cylces downloading and installing updates and maybe even scanning your hard drive every time you boot up.What SP level are you at? Do you have all the XP security patches installed? (My guess would be no since you still had IE6...)Has your PC had malware to your knowledge? Malware is one of the most common causes of poor performance.Naman R's suggestion to configure a Clean Boot is worth trying since you might very well be able to determine if there is a program or process that is singlehandedly slowing you down. You might find that uninstalling a program that is conflicting with another is all you need to do.Lastly, what method did you use to upgrade IE6 to IE7? Some methods are problematic (i.e., using Windows Update, not first disabling your security programs, etc.).
