System restore totally unusable
(Wrongly posted in a Vista forum!!)When the system restore dialog asks me what date I want to restore from I cannot shift from one date to another. The instructions are to click a bold date, but (a) most of the dates are bold, (b) none of them are clickable apart from today's and (c) the back arrows to the previous month, while clickable, don't actually do anything.I think I have a virus or somesuch and want to do a restore. Maybe the virus is stopping me.WXP Prof. SP31 person needs an answerI do too

Doing a System Restore on an infected machine will commonly cause big problems and yes, infection can damage System Restore. Your first step is to make sure your computer is 100% virus/malware-free. Follow the steps at the link below and don't skip the preparatory work.http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Removing_MalwareIf you can't do the work yourself (and there is no shame in admitting this isn't your cup of tea), take the machine to a professional computer repair shop (not your local equivalent of BigComputerStore/GeekSquad). Please be aware that not all local shops are skilled at removing malware and even if they are, your computer may be so infested that Windows will need to be clean-installed. If possible, have all your data backed up before you take the machine into a shop.MS-MVP - Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic!
