System restore did not complete successfully ( File is corrupted or unreadable 0x80070570 )
Thanks is advance for any help that you can assist in with this problem. I started up my Dell Vostro 1720 with Win7 Home Premium and could not log onto my profile numerous times (told me that I may have forgotten my password) so logged in on in safe mode. It worked fine,so I restarted and finally came to my profile and missing was icons for IE and a few others. I attempted to open up Outlook, Word, or any Word Docs, but got the error message that "windows cannot access the specified drive, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permission...... I and the Dell Biz Tech Support person have checked out permissions and access but nothing was denied. We have made a new user profile and this all happens again. We have tried to do a system restore to many previous points but cannot do it. We keep getting this error....." System restore did not complete successfully ( File is corrupted or unreadable 0x80070570 ) I will tell you that everything seems to be in place under safe mode and I am not keen on doing an OS reinstall. So now I ask can anyone PLEASE help me in this situation, as it would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you, David12031

Hi, I would like to suggest you perform a System File Checker to scan the system files first. If it does not work, I also would like to suggest you run chkdsk /f /r command with the elevated permission to check the hard disk error. Regards,Arthur Li - MSFT

Hello Arthur, Thanks for your kind reply on my issue! I did all that you recommended and found some unrelated problems that I took care of but I did eventually find the problem. For some reason I had a corrupted user account which did not me allow a logon into my account. At the recommendation of a friend who knows the internal workings of Windows 7, I set up a new user account. Then I copied and pasted all of the files from the corrupt account to the new one and it works great. I had to tweak many items such as permissions and etc, but got it working.Lastly my friend said not to delete the user account, as if there was future need to access program data or info for warranty, software subscriptions, I could possible have issues.Let me again thank you and the forum for giving me access and the ability to get much needed info & assistance.Have a good day and best regards,David Tanner
