System process in Windows XP is making HUGE I/O reads.__
Dear all, I am running the vendor-customized version of Windows XP SP3 on my brand new Acer notebook. In task manager I noticed that the System process is having a huge amount of I/O read bytes tough the HDD LED is not blinking. Performance of the PC is not a problem, the PC is quite fast, I am just wondering on the reason why System is increasing its I/O read bytes about 5 Megabytes per second. After a few hours of work, the process has read 35Gbytes and counting! I am running Sysinternals Process Explorer and visualized the process tree. There is no a "child" System process that's making such I/O, only System itself is making such reads. I am running antivirus, latest SP and patches, the system is perfect. CPU load is low, 2-3%. I can try grab the Process Explorer screenshot if you think it could be useful, but I do not know how to post it. I cal also try to save it in TXT and format for easy reading. Any answer would be appreciated. Rgds,Andrea Mazzai1 person got this answerI do too

I have discovered what's happening and want to share the information with you all. The Vodafone UMTS USB card is making such I/O, tough I believe there is no reason for doing that - maybe the software could have been wrote better!AM
